Wilma Roem Parent Club Approved: Yes Sponsoring Club: Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America (ISAA) Held in conjunction with the National Specialty In addition to the Judges Education Study Group, the specific Seminars that will be offered to judges and ISAA members are: Breed Type Seminar - 7 Hours Facilitator: Breed Expert and FCI Judge Hans-Ake Sperne ~ Breed Specific Structure Seminar - 4 Hours Facilitator: Breed Expert and FCI Judge Hans-Ake Sperne ~ Maintenance of Genetic Variation in the Population of the ISD World Wide - 2 Hours Facilitator: FCI Judge, Drs. Wilma Roem Drs. Roem will begin with the genetic background of the breeds' population. Following that, she will discuss the history and the current genetic situation. Further discussion will include explanations of the efforts of the Icelandic Sheepdog International Cooperation (ISIC) to decrease the level of inbreeding and maintain genetic variation in the breed. Finally, participants will discuss the future of the breed and the critical role breeders play as they have the responsibility to fight for the health of the breed in the future. ~ Coat Colors of the ISD and Their Genetic Background - 2 Hours Facilitator: FCI Judge, Drs. Wilma Roem The focus of this seminar is inheritance of coat colors in dogs, in general, with a focus on the colors we know in the ISD. Can we predict the color of the puppies when we know the color of the parents and grand-parents? Drs. Roem will present a scheme to help breeders assess the right color name for the puppy that will also be accurate when the pup reaches maturity.
